Planning update:

This 57-acre site is famous for its pivotal role as Fighter Command Headquarters during the Battle of Britain in World War Two. VSM Estates was granted detailed planning and listed building consent by Harrow Council in 2008 for its sensitive redevelopment. The site was then sold in September 2010 to Barratt Homes, who will build the majority of new homes at the site, and to City & Country who will develop the new homes and museum within the Priory building. Construction and marketing of the new residential units is underway.

The development will include:

• Over 100 homes of exceptional quality, designed by award winning architects Robert Adam Architects to respond sensitively to the character of the area.
• The restoration of the Grade II* listed Priory building and Italian gardens and other open space within the grounds, which together comprises registered parkland with mature landscaping and stunning panoramic views across London.
• A stunning museum located in the historical rooms of the Mansion House, dedicated to the memory of those who fought in the Battle of Britain and the fascinating history of Bentley Priory.
• Measures to conserve and enhance the historic landscape setting of the Mansion House.

It preserves and promotes Bentley Priory's significant heritage while delivering some of the most exciting luxury residential homes to be built in London for years, enjoying a mature setting and views across London.

Planning consent followed extensive community consultation and the close involvement of a number of organisations, including the Bentley Priory Battle of Britain Trust, Defence Infrastucture Organisation, and the Prince's Regeneration Trust.
